Block Ventures, Inc. is a team of real estate investment professionals with an associated group of private investors. The Principals

Debra V. Block

Debra V. Block Debra has worked in the custom homebuilding and construction industry for the last 18 years and has gained experience with all aspects of the homebuilding process, which include contracting with sub-contractors, insurance requirements and cost accounting.

Debra V. Block has an extensive background in finance. Debra is a member of the California Society of Enrolled Agents and the National Society of Enrolled Agents. Debra has owned her own business providing services such as full-charge bookkeeping, payroll and tax preparation. She is currently a member on the Board of the Alameda County Chapter of Mothers' Against Drunk Driving and volunteers as the Treasurer and Victim Advocate supporting victims of drunken driving crashes. She is past Executive Board member of Tri-Valley Minor Hockey, Inc. as Treasurer for six years. Debra currently resides in Pleasanton with her husband and children.

Earlier in her career, she worked for a mid-size corporation as a financial analyst, and was supervisor of the Accounts Receivable and then Accounts Payable departments.

 David A. Block

David A. BlockDavid A. Block has over forty years of experience in the high-tech and financial services industries. He has functioned as a CEO, COO, CFO and has served and managed in large as well as emerging business environments. Block has directed the activities of a systems integrator, software developer, and IBM value­-added re-marketer. He successfully handled merger, acquisition, start- up and turnaround activities. And, he has participated in the design, development, financing, and marketing for an entry level customer database management product, containing one of the first on -line tutorials.

He has worked as a liaison between a holding company and its subsidiaries providing consultative operating, marketing and financial management support. As a consultant, Block has worked with management teams assisting in the transition from emerging businesses to controlled growth, on-going, profitable businesses.

Mr. Block was employee number four and was responsi­ble for setting up clearing, financial, and administrative operations for what is now one of the largest commodity trading companies in the world. While with that firm he acquired his own seat on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange where he was a member, floor trader, and designed/developed some of the first computerized cash/futures arbitrage models.

In his career Block has negotiated on and transacted over 350,000 acres of agricultural, commercial and residential property. He has bought, sold, leased, and developed office, industrial, and residential real estate in excess of 1.5 million sq. ft.

His early training in business was in systems, planning and computer MIS and later managed those departments before being promoted to Vice President of Corporate Development for a mid size life insurance company. Block received his BSC and MBA, Finance from DePaul University and has been awarded a variety of other industry certifications and licenses.
